it's possible. if you notice, the camera never gets too close to his face, so then if he messes up, the audience never really notices. trust me, its backwards. I do film work at school and stuff

He did not SING it backwards, he MOUTHED it backwards. He sung it in a recording room and it was put on top of the video clip. And it's not perfect. If you really look at it the whole way through some parts it looks a little funny.

My best guess is that he listened to a reversed version of the song enough to get the reversed vocals memorized. Then they shot the video of him mouthing or singing along to the reversed version that they were probably playing in the background while the video was being shot.
