George Lopez is funny and the way he describes his upringing is exactly the way I was raised, but it is not the Latino way it is the Ghetto way. I chose not to stay or live like that and the problem that I have is that he makes it look like that is part of our culture. Yeah it is for the Ghetto ones. You can be poor and uneducated and still not act that way. I just wish he would clearly say Ghetto Chicano, Latino.

you have a point (sorta)...but i don't think he's exactly trying to portray it as our culture. i mean when he's making fun of the way caucasian ppl act [the things he mentions] don't pertaining to their culture...
Also if you look at it closely, it really is the Latino way. As Latinos relationships between adults and and children is what he portrays. apoco no?

i think he is saying that most of us are still very working class and even if not totally ghetto in the way you are saying, he still means we have parts of our family who are like this...and it is JUST COMEDY where he exaggerates - cuz not everyone has EVERY stereotype in their family...I have an MA in education and a degree in English and don't have a problem with any of his comedy, evenwhen he goes over the top. But you can always create your own routine and see what people think...
