i just got it replaced for free, i called sony and told them i lost my reciet and that i wanted my blu ray replaced or im getting rid of all my sony products and never ever buying another sony product again, and i told them i have about 25,000 dollars in products. which i do. that includes hella blu ray disc. they have a good customer keepers

that's what happened to mine I was playing COD4 then the screen went black so I turned it off & after that it won't read any disc... but after about 10minutes it worked again then the next day while playing it froze again...

This is only a temporary fix. Ive got an 80 gig that crashed with the death code and I tried this. It works for 2-3 hours or so then crashed again. If I got online it didnt even work for that long.

i think it might be the firmware. if the next firmware fixes it then it was the firmware. checked a bunch of tech websites and guys replaced damn near everything inside the ps3 with new parts and still the same problem hence software not hardware fuck sony for robbing the shit out of people when the know damn well this is there fuck up shti broke my 60 gig and 40 gig in the same day the same way . and this little trick dont work for shit on either one of mine.

i got it too pissed me off real bad, so i did a re format and everything was fine again :S couldnt explain it, but oh well. btw my PS3 is still standing vertical. and it happend straight after i watched a data dvd on it. dam you max payne!
