this guy is great. but he isn't some new uprising talent, he has spend about 18.000 € for singing study (i'm sorry for my bad english, i'm german..) he learned from pavarotti and some others, and he already had a name in the opera world. So he was already a professional when he started, but was unknown for the tv watching audience...
but a great song and a great voice.

I am afraid your information is wrong. He went touring Italy amatuer for few months, spent 9000pounds, he paid for board and Italian lessons, had had some singing lessons, not with Pavarotti. Because he was good he was chosen to sing for Pavarotti, who asked him to sing again because he thought him good. Up to winning the show, Paul was never professional, and he had not sang 4years up to this show, definately not known in opera world.

I have just seen Paul Potts live Koln, over eleven thousand people screamed encore over five minutes. Pauls voice great to start with, great in February, greater still now, he nailed those high Cs, yes Paul Potts in just year up there with greats, still will improve, Paul Potts is now a legend.

He is really great, but somehow i dont feel the impact when he is singing the low keys... when he reaches the high once .. AWESOME!!!!!!.. hope hope hope he can improve his low once ... but overall... awesomeness..
