I Don't Know. I Think Joy Division Were More Original And Exciting. But I Think The Smiths Are A Lot More Lyrically Genius. I Also Think they Had Just As Much Impact On People As Joy Division. Sure, they definately had much more impact on people than Joy Division, but thats because they were more accessible and pop orientated. Music about severe depression and suicide isn't going to get any radio play. As for lyrics.. Well, I actually think Ian Curtis' lyrics are superior to those of Morrisey. Morriseys' were probably more endearing, and of their time and place, but a true test of lyrics is reading them on their own, and in that respect Curtis' are much much more succesful.

Well in the dvd the director said he didn't want them to be look alikes. He wanted them to inbody the characters, regardless of looks. Tony Wilson in the dvd extras said he was frightened by how accurate this actor moved to Ian Curtis.
