Can someone explain this song? This is my interpretation: The brother had a past affair with the singer's wife (Jane). He hasn't spoken with his escentric brother in a long time, and now he's writing him to forgive him for ultimately making his wife happier (with whom he has since reconsiled). He is also reflecting on the troubled state of both their lives.

It tells the story of a three-sided affair between the speaker, a woman named Jane, and the addressed person, identified as, "my brother, my killer." Implied is that Jane was later either engaged to or married to the speaker, "And you treated my woman to a flake of your life, and when she came back she was nobody's wife."
Later, the speaker admits that he is partially grateful for the affair, because Jane had been troubled, and the affair alleviated it when he hadn't been able to.

he is talking about a man that lives in the desert without any technology. the woman jane is in love with the desert-man, whom is a gypsy. the teller is a local citizen and the gypsy-man's enemy. jane is mostly a metaphor used to explain their subconscious love to one another. and also perhaps to explain the disappearance of certain objects that the teller used to love. kane was also involved as a killer; but he killed the wrong neighbour.
