The beauty of Callas was not her voice...but her interpretation! Nobody interpreted AND interprets like she did! We sometimes forget that her instrument was her voice and it can't always be perfect but the interpretation that she gave every aria and role she sang...is priceless....

What do you mean? The vibratto is clean and the notes's are very accurate. Is the sound quality? Or Callas? It' not a great voice, it's a great singing actress. I've never loved the voice, just the artistry. Is this what you mean? I'm still trying to figure it out.

This is not Callas at her best. But you seldom see anyone so true in carachter.
I have seen prima donnas singing this piece with blank faces and expressionless movements.
This is the cry of a desperate human being (Tosca).It does not have to be beautiful. It has to be passionate and haunting. Callas did that very well.

This is not her best Tosca. But it is fascinating to watch her so closely throughout the song. It is almost uncomfortable.

With Maria Callas it's absolutely necessary to understand what's she's saying while singing,maybe more than with any other belcanto singer,due to her enormous enterpreting capacity.This is true for everything she sings.
