I agree EJ is not a very good player. His tecnique seems very good but when the push comes to shove he makes mistakes. Thou, he recorded a song that is a must to pay attention, if you are a guitarist.

I don't even get this, there's no sense to it. The occasional mistake makes him not a very good player?
There are players who are considered legendary who are beyond sloppy.
If he plays incredibly 99.99% of the time, but makes an occasional mistake, that makes him not a very good player?

Those of you who say he is not a good player or that he makes mistakes...please give me the video timing points where his mistakes occur. I've played guitar for over forty years and I hear a phenomenal player doing things that very few players can do. Most of us dream of playing this well.
I am not a fan of this type of music. It actually bores me after a few minutes. BUT I hear genius technique and a lifetime of dedication at work.

for real guys, what's it matter if he makes mistakes. I bet you make thousands of mistakes when you all play guitar. It's part of playing and progressing throughout your whole life. Everyone makes mistakes, Hendrix made mistakes and he said so himself. Guitar is something that will never be truly mastered.

Eric johnson is one of the greatist guitarists of the 90s. Just because he makes a few mistakes doiusnt mean he sucks or as your say a "shit player"

never boring or dull. i love EJ's playing and cliffs of dover (anyone know why he chose this name for this) is always good to listen to. great improv here esp at start one or two smalll mistakes but hey everyones human and at least his live versions differ from the studio ones which is alway a sign of a good player, make it recognisable but still be original and spontaneous. pure listening joy = EJ

yes i totally agree -i think i said this somewhere else also. take his track desert rose for example, great guitar but poor singing ability. nothing to be ashamed of but he should stick to what he does best which is play - absolutely superbly it must be said
