Both Shelley and her co-star, Paul Petersen, were conscripted to make records(something that lots of teen TV stars in the early 60s were doing--just check out the Top 40 charts from that era!). Both Shelley and Paul had several charting hits apiece("Johnny Angel" and "Johnny Loves Me" for Shelley and "She Can't Find Her Keys" and "My Dad" for Paul) One of Shelley's best is "He Don't Love Me" which one record critic describes as sounding like "the Crystals on a surfboard". It's one of her best!

To Wolfsky9 and TL250: I've been saying for years- today's 'oldies' stations refuse to
play the great songs like Johnny Angel, Fame and Fortune, Sea Cruise, etc. etc. We're in
Atlanta- actually a half hour south, and the
oldies station here plays the same few songs.
In N.Y. WCBS-FM would play fabulous oldies.

I remember when I first saw this show at age 10.The actual clip is from a 1965 Flashback episode where Donna tells Trisha stories of past family outings.(I can tell because of the small scene at the beginning.)This episode,Indoor Outing, was the last show of the seventh season-and really should have been the last show of the series.

Oh I do miss those days of innocence! I sometimes wish that I grew up in that time for the pure fun they used to have while singing and dancing! My aunties used to make us dance to "green onions", and it was always so fun! Thanks for sharing! D2

Mychaels, maybe your mother was disillusional and didn't really remember. Or, maybe she wanted you to think that she was 'hip'. Those days were a LOT more innocent than today. I know . I was there!!

Actually you were a pretty young kid. Yes to a young child every thing seems innocent. My mother was dillusional? That is pretty nasty to say. But when you hide behind a keyboard you can be nasty. By the way my mother would have kicked your teeth down throat. Just wanted to share that with you.
Mychaels, I wasn't ... ( 3 days ago by ellyc19111)
Mychaels, I wasn't trying to be nasty just trying to maybe justify what she said. I don't have to hide behind a keyboard if I want to say something nasty, because I would've said it, it would've been 10 times worse than that! Honey, I doubt even YOU could kick my ass. Sorry...didn't mean to try and make it easier for you.

Feel bad 4 you! I was born in 51, lived in RI, most families had 2-6 children, mine consisted of 5 children, 3 boys, 2 girls and pratactly every family in the neighborhood had the Leave It To Beaver & Happy Days life style. The FAB 50s & early 60s were real for the marjority of families. One TV, 1 radio, 1 car in the driveway, everyone around the table at super time, the system worked great. I remember watching this video on our B&W Zenith because I had a MEGA crush on Shelly.
GREAT POST THANKS

All winter long we were doing the "Twist" with my dance hero Chubby Checker. "Father Knows Best," "Leave It To Beaver," My Three Sons," "The Donna Reed Show" and "American Bandstand" along with an our of cartoons were my daily diet of wholesome TV entertainment. As a 10 year old I was quite well entertained. When Shelley Fabares hit big with this song I adopted it to my crush on a girl in school. The song hit me almost as hard as my world sized crush on that girl. I sang it all the time.
